ALIA Institute

Hello Kiwis and Aussies,
We talked about how we want to use this space and a couple of ideas come up which sound great. This one is in fact not one of them but seemed like it might be handy...so here I am. Also I have some self interest here...hope this is not too cheeky..... I have designed a workshop with a colleague of mine (Stephen Archer: who is also on this site actually), which explores the relationship between mindfulness and leadership. We are looking to get together a small group of leaders (about 15-20) who wish to learn and practice the basics of mindfulness while also applying this to their lives as leaders and to the gritty questions we face as leaders. The dates are June 11-12. I have attached the flyer. It would be awesome to meet some of you there...but also we'd really appreciate if you could send the flyer on to a few leaders who you believe would be keen on participating. Kind regards Lisa

Hello Folks, The Mindfulness and Leadership workshop (in June) went so well in Auckland that we were asked to repeat it in Wellington too. SO we are. Please see the information under events on this site for details. The workshop will be on October 29 and 30th, with early bird registration being October 9th. We very much build on ALIA principles, integrating theory U, and complex adaptive leadership concepts, with mindfulness practice, in the pursuit of effective models and mindsets for addressing our "complex" leadership challenges. We'd love to see you there. Please pass the PDF on to any of your colleagues you you think would appreciate this work.
Cheers Lisa
Thanks for starting this thread Lisa,

Some may be interested in the two relaxed and different 2-day public workshops we run in Devonport, Auckland every month .
1. PMSkills - Is about Leading Collaborative Projects and caters for a wide range of people from many sectors who need to get their collective heads around projects that deliver real outcomes.
2. LST - is for people who want to explore the application of Living Systems Thinking in complex win-win program situations where everything and everyone tends to be connected, inter-dependent and seemingly chaotic.

Kiaora, I have just posted the notice of a 2 day "cultivating mindful leadership presence" workshop on the main events page. I thought this post might also be handy to draw your attention to it.

You can also read more about this workshop (March 22-23 in Wellington) and others scheduled for this year at http://www.mindfuladventures.co.nz/facilitation/index.htm

It is a evolution of the workshops that Stephen Archer and I lead last year. This one is primarily designed to embed mindful attention and generative dialogue/ conversation as core leadership practices especially for those addressing our more complex questions. We have scheduled 3 such workshops through-out this year (March, in Wellington, June in Auckland, and November in Dunedin or Christchurch) and in addition two 4 day residential retreats. Our 4 day retreats, which allow for increased reflection and spaciousness of spirit, and which include further coaching and practice of “tools” relevant to leading and working innovatively in complexity, are scheduled for May 3-6, at Vaughan Park, Auckland, and October 11/12-15, at Mana Retreat Centre (Coromandel). We will update you with details about these offerings as they get closer in time.

Our workshops and retreats are a work-out in the practices of “mindfulness” (to open and focus our attention) and “conversation” that has the power to transform. They are not for the faint hearted, as they are deigned to activate parts of our selves which most of us seldom make use of. Having said that they are suitable for those who are experienced in mindfulness as well as those who are new to the practice.

Please do contact me personally if you are keen to register or just have questions.
Thanks and Happy New Year, Lisa
