Whether you've already registered for the inaugural ALIA Europe gathering in Holland...
whether you're considering it...
whether we've somehow managed to miss you, and this is the first that you're hearing of it (take a look!)...
whether you know about it but can't join us in January....
Whichever applies to you, you are warmly invited to participate in a free two-hour café conversation through the medium of Skype, on Monday, 19th October (see times below). We will come together from many countries to consider the following questions:
"What is the work that we're doing and seeing that responds to the challenges of this time?"
"What are the big questions at the edge of this work?"
Most of the Café will be conducted in virtual "table groups" of 4-5 people, with the opening and closing elements bringing the larger group together.
As well as being a "conversation that matters" to us all, the outcomes of this Skype Cafe will inform some of the most important aspects of the January event. It will ensure that the reflection and learning taking place at ALIA Europe are firmly rooted in and can positively affect the real work and the real questions that are surfacing across Europe at this time. The key conversation threads will be shaped into organizing themes for one track of the January event.
Our experience of running a Skype Café during the Shambhala Summer Institute in June showed that such an event can generate a rich field of learning, and opportunities to make the kinds of connections and discoveries that people have come to associate with the ALIA Institute during its nine year history in Canada.
In order to participate, you'll need to be able to access a Skype audio connection (we won't be using video) , and to give us your Skype name by Thursday 15th October so that we can dial you in (send email to Cara Lynn at clgarvock@ALIAinstitute.org). The main language will be English, but if you would like to converse in another language, please tell us. We can't make any promises, but we'll do our best to arrange at least part of the café to enable this.
The Café will take place on Monday 19th October at:
15.00-17.00 WESTERN EUROPE (UK / Ireland / Portugal)
16.00-18.00 CENTRAL EUROPE (Holland / France / Belgium / Germany / Italy / Czech Republic / Spain Etc)
17.00-19.00 EASTERN EUROPE (Finland / Latvia / Lithuania / Greece Etc)
Participants from Africa and elsewhere are also very welcome!! Please check your local time zone.
We look forward to hearing from you!!
