Gardening in a Social Innovation Ecosystem (Fieldnotes Article)
My role as gardener began March 2010 when I cancelled a Yoga of Leadership workshop scheduled to run in Costa Rica. I put a lot of my self into making the workshop happen, and all along I felt like I was pushing a boulder through a swamp. As much as I was disappointed in cancelling the workshop, I was relieved to stop pushing the boulder.

Day 7 - it feels like making paper
A week ago today I landed in Halifax for my first ALIA Summer Institute. Today, as I sit in my living room feeling through to holding what I've experienced, I'm drawn to the metaphor of making hand made paper.
You tear recycled paper into pieces, put the pieces into a blender with warm water, blend together beginning slowly and increasing until the pulp is smooth, spread the pulp on a mesh screen, press out the excess water, then "magic happens" and the fibers of the pulp…

Susan Szpakowski said… - Brad, you are probably aware of SiG (Social Innovation Generation, Canada) and SIX (Social Innovation Exchange, international)? They are both portals to examples of social innovation accelerators and incubators, both within and outside of governments. In Nova Scotia, some of us are trying to soak up some of this learning as well.
