Share your ALIA stories

As we get closer to Columbus, some of us are sharing the stories of how ALIA inspired us in the past. I had a chance to connect with two of the people I met with at ALIA in 2010 (Ann Badillo and Jarda Dokoupil) and I asked them to share their impressions of ALIA. Here are the videos of those interviews. Feel free to share your stories too! See More

Trying to describe ALIA Summer Institute... words fail me, so I turned to images

When people ask me "how was your week at ALIA?" I have a hard time answering. It's not easy to wrap words around such a transformative experience.Though they are not adequate, these are some of the words I've used:I have been transformed by the many people who brought their vulnerability, their longings, their spirits, their truths, their hurts, and their gifts from all over the world to a common space in Halifax where all of us dreamed together of what the world could be like if we would put…See More

Leaders who've inspired me

As I prepare for ALIA next week, I've been doing a lot of thinking, reading, and blogging about what it means to be an authentic leader. More specifically, I've been exploring the concept of Shambala warrior - a concept which intrigues and excites me. I look forward to the inspiration I will receive next week. This week, I started thinking about the people in my life who most clearly exemplify the concept of Shambala warrior. It turns out that many of them are women I've met from developing…See More

In the past year, my life has been transformed, thanks in part to my experience at ALIA 2010. It was there that I dreamed up the beginnings of a new business, now called Sophia Leadership. I work as a writer, facilitator, leadership mentor, story midwife, and edge-walker, helping people unleash their unique wisdom in ways that impact the world. ALIA, and the amazing community it draws together, helps me dream big dreams and walk the edge with confidence. I blog at www.sophialeadership.com
