Cara Lynn!
In Sweden the H1N1 flu, (swineflu), is the big thing. We will offer the whole population free vaccine, starting end of September. This will probably affect a lot of things, like meetings and travel. Local and regional government are…
Hi Betsy!
Good to meet you!!
Yes, it can work great for meditation or as a thought on the way to work. It´s about arriving in harmony to work and colleagues!
Stay great and keep up that kayaking! Jan
So much that needs to sink in. So many new friends and perspectives. My head is full of them. Knowing a bit about the "art of welcoming" it strikes me to be a novice in "the art of departing". There is a Swedish folklore song…
This is something we use as practice in The Art of Welcoming. I added one line after the week in Halifax. You will probably figure out which one. All the best.
THE CHOICE
Today I can welcome life as the gift it is.
Today I can welcome moments of…
What are the personal practices of basic human goodness that help us to see the unseen and act in a way that shifts the world towards its own basic goodness?
Please share something about yourself, your work, and what draws you to the ALIA community.
A WELCOMING WORLD
"Imagine a world where people feel welcome and expected. A world where children, friends, strangers, guests, customers and colleagues dare to and want to meet each other for real. It is our belief that this is the basis for true and lasting success for us as human beings, our organizations and society we have been entrusted".
HOSTMANSHIP
A practical philosophy on the art of welcoming, comprised on six foundations; serving, responsibility, wholeness, caring, knowledge and dialogue.
THE THIRD FACE OF LEADERSHIP
In addition to Manager and Leader we encourage the face of the Host. Hostmanship looks upon all organizations as Hosts, hosting community, dreams, a vision, a mission, talent, customers, partners and owners. Also the organization as a host in society, contributing to the well being of the whole.
HOSTMANSHIP DEVELOPMENT GROUP (HDG)
Provides inspiration, knowledge and tools for everyone who wants to develop the art of welcoming.
Founding office is in Sweden, with operations also in Denmark, Norway, The Netherlands and starting up in Kampala, Uganda. We do our work through books and lectures, courses and workshops in all kinds of sectors in society. We are aiming for partnerships throughout the world.
HDG, a non religious and non political organization, was launched 2003, with the visions of a welcoming world.
I hope ALIA will bring me new perspectives, challenges, deepened insights and friends.
I am an author/speaker with six books in the fields of Hostmanship, Communityship and Leadership. Also I write music and sing about the state of things. One song "If We Can´t Cry" is on Youtube, if you like to listen go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmmxZa1rkzI

Welcome Jan to ALIA! Congratulations on the awesome work and future possibilities of HDG. In my assessment, ALIA Institute is a network of conversations where learning and development is possible. I like exchanges with like focused mindedness individuals who are serious about learning and development. I invite you to join my page as a friend, and my offer to you is the same. Also, I invite you to join ALIA Africa Group. When time permits, you may read my lastest blog on Glenda Eoyang, and I welcome your feedback and comments on my learning blog. I look forward to learning conversations.
