Rachel's home - no matter where she travels - is a tiny village in New Brunswick, Canada. Her family operated a general store ((hub of culture + exchange)) for generations until car culture came, people followed the big shiny new and improved. now she feels a shift as the village patiently awaits a spark to unleash its potential.
Rachel holds a degree in Community Design from the Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada. She is engaged in networks//communities of practice including: Art of Hosting, the HUB, kaospilots, MSLS, YIP, Survival Academy.
She is an entrepreneurial problem-solver who believes in the power of ((conversation + design)) to reshape economies, improve public services + enhance our lives. Her approach to community engagement is proactive, often involving interactive art installations.
Rachel currently works with Halifax-based design firm Breakhouse as the Director of 4 Days :: a playful, event-based, 5-year reflection + action vehicle for transformation in Halifax. This year's theme is BETTER CITY LAB, helping people launch their ideas, projects, enterprises for a Better City, Better Life.
