Well Tim, I think it is by realizing that love is your deepest essence and that you are actually fearful and in some way threatened whenever we are not happy and joyful.
First you nead to realize this concept through thought, then you need to FEEL…
Thanks to all for your recent contributions to this discussion.
I think we all know how complicated leadership for sustainability is, given the complexities of our world today.
If love is the answer, and, at some level, I realize it is, how do we…

thanks Peter, I'll take a look at those links! It is heartbreaking, frustrating - all the emotions when you see indigenous people no longer being able to live in their homelands!
Hi Janie,
Your communities might resonate with the story of a small rural and mainly Maori community in New Zealand who lost their livelihood when the government stopped native milling in their forest 25 years ago www.tipuake.org.nz. and also some…
I don't have answers at this point but would love to join in on the conversation. Our Alaska Native villages are in crisis mode what with the high cost of fuel, shortage of jobs and out-migration of young people. Let's connect!

Please share something about yourself, your work, and what draws you to the ALIA community.
The ALIA community interests me because of: 1) its philosophical roots, and 2) the possibility for building research and practice relationships/networks around leadership for rural community sustainability -- that is working with local leaders to help their communities recognize the vital connections between land and people.
Don't let the necktie in the picture fool you; I'm not that stuffy.

Hi, Gabrielle. Leadership for sustainability is really a new area for me, part of a rural land use curriculum I've been working on for quite some time. I'll be posting a piece shortly that talks about sustainability values that underpin the leadership piece. I guess you'll be automatically notified when I get there, probably next week.
Hello, and welcome, Tim. You should be in touch with Gabrielle Donnelley - she is involved in a rural leadership pilot program here at the Institute. Fascinating work!
