Non-Verbal, NLP, Somatics and Transitional Moments: Leaders Finding Ways of Communication (or not).

I am a learner and curious about human beings experiencing other forms of non-verbal communication as in transitional moments for learning and development purposes. I remember listening to a group of OD practitioners having exchanges around the usefulness of NLP in OD. Being the observer I am, and in my listening to their exchanges I noticed what appeared to me was a lot of concepts and useful practices in NLP, non-verbal communication, and somatics. I noticed the shift in the conversations…See More

Discovery of co-relations between Human Systems Dynamics and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (or not)

I am curious as a learner if there is a need and a decisive role for authentic leadership, i.e., bringing about transformation in managing effectively strategic treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or not? In 2006, according to the Mental Health Association (MHAA) of American at least 52 per cent of our population has some type of mental health disorder. Also, MHAA reported that at least 60 per cent of all women in America are suffering with some type of mental health disorder.…See More

Dear Wali

Many thanks for the link. I look forward to seeing the video. While I am familiar with his work, I have not seen this, and it will be nice to hear his thoughts.

I found the books he edited 'Healing Emotions' and 'Destructive Emotions' absolutely enlightening.

Being Sri Lankan, and having grown up with Buddhism all my life, it was facinating to read these two books which try to compare western science, physics, psychology with that of Buddhism.

I look forward to sharing and exploring learnign with you.
Warmest wishes
Mihirini

What is the meaning of a democratic leader without having the people's interest at heart? Nigeria is said to be a democratic state but in the real sense(to those who know what true democracy is), Nigeria is practising oligarchy. A true leader begins with oneself, how he/she is able to manage group affairs and making sure that there is harmony among themselves and ultimately working efficiently and effectively in achieving the set goals. Obama is a true democrat. An authentic leader he is.

Wali, everything in life is surrounded by mythology. Throughout the ages, from first man and woman, how we live our lives has been guided and dominated by myths. Some of these myths are practical and based upon wisdom, some are nothing short of foolishness. Another example of our willingness to abdicate our personal responsibility to someone, or something, else. Our challenge is to sort the good from the bad, to identify how the myths based on wisdom can help us avoid the mistakes of the past. Alas, I feel that as a species we are not very good at doing so. All our institutions, religious, political, corporate and social surround themselves in a plethora of mythology, most of it of little practical value. I wonder why? My suspicions are that it is to protect the corrupt and the incompetent from scrutiny. This would suggest our challenge is to expose those misinformed mythologies for their lack of wisdom and value, rather than trying to expose individuals that hide behind the mythology.
