Anouk, Thank you for initiating this thread. I finally have time to join in the conversation - it is inspiring to be part of a community engaged in appreciation of spirit and practice. Some suggestions for remembering to center are: have a photo(s)…

Michael Chender asked: Wendy, is there a progressive understanding/experiencing of the body that allows for a deepening and unfolding of somatic intelligence? An interesting question. I find myself compelled to follow it a bit. I enjoyed an amazing…

I want to be a member even if I live in tepid California. Someone gave me a warning - don't sit in the front of the dog sled - what is that about? Wendy

Wendy Palmer replied to Michael Chender's discussion 'Creating the Containers for Working with Complexity and Transformation'
I am interested in exploring the foundation of what comprises community and culture. As far as I can tell it is people who are in physical bodies that make up the groupings we call community, culture and complex spaces. So how do these human bodies…

Just noted this new thread and suggest page 42 of Jill Bolte Taylors book ... I found it odd that I was aware that I could no longer clearly discern the physical boundaries of where I began and where I ended ... I no longer perceived myself as a…

It doesn't work for me to say - I am a body. I have had some experiences that have given me a glimpse into a state in which that is not the case. As I believe I am everything and nothing simultaneously then it works for me to say I have this…

Oh boy - here we go - from the ultimate point of view yes, the body is a mental projection. I have had glimpses of that. Meanwhile, most of our experience has to do with the health of this thing that needs food, sleep and companionship. What if we…

Ah, Language, funneling experience in grooved patterns shaping perception. In my view, saying: I have a body.... creates a separation between mind and body that may have value in certain situations, but sets up dualistic obstacles to experiencing…

This container business is a huge topic. As I see it, one way of talking about it that might apply is as the conditions that allow a situation to fulfill itself, or that allow the inherent wisdom (or life-energy) of a situation to be inspired and…

Hi Thomas, A bow in return..... Well yes, a container is used to hold something. Like the story of the philosopher and the Zen master - philosopher goes to the Zen master to receive teaching. The Zen master offers tea and begins to pour. He pours…

Welcome to ALIA Wendy, I am interested and curious to listen to your insights regarding somatic language if possible. Is there a connection between somatic language and somatic intelligence? Is "yes" or "no", please explain. Also, I invite you as a friend on my page, and I would like to do the same on your page.

Cheers,
Wali

Thank you, Wendy,
Your Aikido background provides the perspective - thank you!
I also enjoyed browsing your web site. I would be interested in reading your 3 page paper. My individual email is dialog@kultur-und-management.com. Not sure yet how the linking or integration of documents works in the Alia ning space, either. Sabine

Dear Wendy,
I enjoyed your comments in the Complicated/Complex thread. Would you be willing to share a little more about your background, especially what informs you on somatic intelligence/embodiment, and your connection to leadership?
I am asking so specifically, since I am training in Laban Movement Studies, which is a profound process of somatic education, and am pondering, conceptually and practically, how to interweave the somatic learnings with the corporate work I do. I am also pondering if it may require some PhD level research to articulate/validate some of this. Best wishes, Sabine
