Mary Ellen Copeland, Ph.D., international scholar and author received the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009. The medical model for treatment of mental health and addictive behaviors has been to medicate, maintain, and isolate for over 125 years. Mary Ellen’s leadership and breakthrough visionary work has lead to the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP®); currently, WRAP® is being used in retraining psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses and social workers. Also, public safety professionals across America are being trained in WRAP® Wellness Model, as well as a new way of thinking.
The WRAP® Around the World Conference was held in Philadelphia, PA August 1-3, 2011. A total of over 500 WRAP® Facilitators and Advanced WRAP® Facilitators came together from forty states and 8 countries. They came seeking the experience of the fun-of-learning, exchanging ideas, listening to unique experiences, receiving new information, networking and meeting old and new friends. The Copeland Center for Wellness and Recovery are regularly offering free Webinars. As a WRAP® Facilitator, I advocate the effectiveness, usefulness and sustainability of WRAP® for everyone, especially if you are making consciously efforts in your well-being and wellness.
