had an interesting conversation yesterday with a lady who had seen of piece of pasture for sale for some time

without the required 50k euro, one day decided she wanted to realize an Earthship on that piece of pasture

then she asked friends, who helped her out, found a willing ear at the municipality (who had earlier agreed to allow the building of another outlandish type of house (an underground house) on its territory

what also helped was that the (any) Province has a legal obligation from the EU to turn pasture and other lands into 'nature' type of country, which she offered to do and found a significant (about 50%) financial support (also since Provinces have a hard time fulfilling these obligations)

and since she indicated she will not be living there, but rather that it will be a sort of welcome center for people visiting her center where people can experience new / TransitionTown ways of living, she was allowed to build with significant deviation from the -strict building rules ( = leading to big ecological & economical footprint + depressing style of housing)

when circumstances change (dramatically, as she expects rather sooner than later), she has found an inroad in current societal arrangements, allowing the new to take root before sheer necessity forces large groups to scramble for resources, inducing suffering

is this what resilience + effectively creating scale in our times looks like?
